Snowman Wreath

ย  “Jingle Bells Jingle Bells…..Jingle all the way!” Yes you heard right….its nearly that time of year again. My favourite time of year in the southern hemisphere. Summer time, holidays, barbeques, family and friends, singing, giving, love, Christmas! I love putting up the tree, decorating the house all festive in red and green and playing the traditional carols to get into the spirit of a busy but fun and memorable month. I always put up my Christmas treeย on December 1st along with my wreath for the door. Last year I made this one with my Mum. We went for the snowman/winter theme….inspired by the northern hemisphere and the cold snowy weather. You can buy plain green wreaths like this one at the major craft stores and select ornaments to decorate it by simply sewing them into the wreath. I’ll be making another one in the next few weeks for the studio door and will post that soon. Watch this space! Why not start thinking about how you might get your home feeling festive this year?! …

Aroha Mini-Canvas

Over the years I’ve painted my fair share of crafty style art. Really simple colours with a selection of odds and ends that you glue on and personalise to suit a room or a person (if it’s a gift). Right now I’m loving all the details put into tiny versions. This way you can put 3-5 of them together (odd numbers work best), or with a mix of other artworks. Or simply fit them on a book shelf or dresser instead of the wall. Lots of options with this Aroha Mini Canvas which is only 20cm x 20cm. You can fit a lot of love into a tiny space. Also check out this other one I personalised for a very special day…..my wedding!

Love Word Art

Word Art has become pretty popular. Its a nice touch to add to a bedroom and these make such great gifts. So simple – just choose a word that resonates with you and decorate it. You can pick up these words already pre-cut in plain MDF from Spotlight or other craft stores. I have decorated mine with scrapbooking paper, wall paper and gift wrap. Finish with a spray of clear varnish to protect and seal it. Stick them straight up on the wall with blue tak, or pop them on a bookshelf or window ledge. Simple, unique and a perfect homemade gift for someone special.
