Geometric Upcycled Lampshade

I LOVE upcycling interiors to give things a whole new look and feel. I’m also a lover of bright colour….so this little easy DIY geometric lampshade was a real hit for my guest bedroom. Fun, bright, and super frugal….why not try it yourself?! Heres what you’ll need: A tired lampshade in need of revamping. Some painters tape (any DIY store will stock it). Bright coloured acrylic paints. Some metallic copper paint (very on trend right now). A smallish paintbrush. Lets get started: First use your painters tape to make a creative geometric pattern. Then choose a combination of colours that will work really well together. Paint out blocks of colour on your lampshade. When dry remove your tape. Now its times to use your copper paint and carefully paint out all the areas which your tape had been. It’s that easy…take a look at the final product!! Hope this inspired you to create your very own.     Advertisements

Getting Market Ready

With the last Market before Christmas fast approaching I am busy making lots of product to sell (fingers crossed). Today in between kindy drop off and baby naps I managed to sew some cushions and collect some twigs and sticks outside in prep for some more Christmas crafting I’ll be doing later in the week. I’m hoping to make a few Christmas wreaths with what I’ve collected from the garden. The cushions I made from some repurposed fabric, once a duvet cover….now a cushion.     I also found this amazing fabric in my local second hand shop this morning… Vintage Retro Nursery Rhyme print…..FABULOUS! So I’m trying to think of the best crafting use for this fabric. Let me know if you have any ideas?!

Taco Tuesday

For a little over a year we have been regularly celebrating Tuesday’s by eating taco’s for Dinner. “Taco Tuesday”….commonly known in Southern California, at Mexican Restaurants as the night to get 99 cent bargain tacos. Now it has come to New Zealand and more importantly to our house. You just have to search the hashtag #tacotuesday on Instagram and you will see a mega feed of delicious taco themed pics. Soft tacos, guacamole, fish tacos, margaritas, slow cooked pulled pork tacos, guacamole….YUMMO! I try to mix it up with different recipes and accompaniments, fresh herbs and condiments. I guess you could say it’s become a little fun family tradition we have started and plan to continue. Ever thought of starting a family tradition? Why not try a special themed dinner night once a week. Taco’s work so well because there are SO many variations, they are healthy, kids love them and its great for a group of people big or small so you can invite a different bunch of friends each week! Give it a go – I’d love …
