Upcycled Wheelbarrow Aeroplane

My husband (Andrew) and I just had a lovely 3 day weekend with the boys, hanging out at home and enjoying the sunshine. Andrew is an “active relaxer” so diy projects are usually on the cards for him if we are at home on the weekends. The boys were with him for a good few hours outside, so I went to investigate. I found them making the coolest upcycled wheelbarrow aeroplane. We had some unused plywood leftover from another project of his, an old camping chair, nuts, bolts, switches, plastic sheeting and a set of keys. And of course an old wheelbarrow base and tin bucket. Andrew can create just about anything with stuff lying around.       Lots of creativity andย imagination to be had by all the family with this one. And half the fun is the time spent making it together. Have you made any upcycled/creative toys lately? Feel free to comment below – I’d love to hear your crafty ideas! Advertisements

Upcycled Playhouse

This was once a single level playhouse that lived at my sisters house and entertained many a happy play time for her two children. Nowadays they have outgrown the playhouse and kindly, it was donated to us. Ofcourse….we had big plans to create the Uber-playhouse for our two littlies. So with a few ideas and sketches, some DIY building skills and re-purposing some of our old fencing timber…..we created the Upcycled Playhouse. All three levels of it – Fit with slide, pulley bucket, climbing wall, verandah and a trapdoor. Our boys love it! All it takes is an idea, some motivation and a few busy weekends wearing a tool belt to create something this cool. Why not give it a try yourself?

Making Sushi

ย  Tinkering in the Studio with furniture and arty things is not all I like to do. Infact, I’ve been known to tinker in the kitchen a little bit too. I have recently taught myself how to make sushi and refined if pretty well over the last year. My boys (big and small) really love it. My 3 year old even asked me for a sushi cake for his birthday this year….he likes it THAT much! His favourite is tuna with cucumber and avocado. He likes to dip it in the sauce and stuff it all in his mouth in one go. There are so many combinations you can make. For kids why not try pineapple, cream cheese or even cooked sausage. My boys love all of those and its lovely to see them experimenting with different types of food. I learnt to make it by watching a few youtube tutorials and then adapting my own way once I had attempted it a few times. Most major grocery stores sell all the bits you will …
